REGARDING MORAL DECAY

Whereas, the world has accelerated its slide down the slippery slope of moral decay, as indicated by the rapid growth of the multi-billion-dollar pornography industry, the instant and apparently anonymous availability of multiplied means of defilement through the Internet, the increasing number of ministers charged with criminal sexual offenses, the abhorrent and disgusting portrayals on television and in movies that glamorize promiscuity, the easy opportunity to bring Hollywood into the home through videos, the debilitating effects upon the sanctity of the home and the permanence of marriage, and finally by its frontal assault upon Christian use of the Lord's Day; therefore be it

Resolved: That we pledge ourselves anew to maintain and guard soberly the purity of our thoughts (Philippians 4:8), to carefully and scripturally filter what we allow into our minds, to make a covenant with our eyes as did Job (Job 31:1), to rigorously discipline ourselves to the ministry of the Word and prayer (Acts 6:3-4), and pledge anew to single-mindedly devote ourselves to our spouses and families and to reclaim the Lord's Day for the Lord so that He may be glorified in all we say, think, and do.
